Lucknow: Wednesday turned out to be an unforgettable day for students of the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV), Atrauli, in Aligarh district. As part of an educational excursion, the students visited the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, where they got a firsthand feel for what many describe as democracy’s temple, and came away with a clearer sense of how the state’s democratic system actually functions. During the visit, they learned how matters of public interest are debated in the Assembly and how important decisions get made through the democratic process.
The students toured different parts of the Assembly building and were given detailed information about its historical, cultural, and democratic significance. They were briefed on the proceedings of the House, the role of elected representatives, and various aspects of the legislative process. Curious throughout the visit, the students asked a number of questions, all of which were answered to their satisfaction — leaving them with a richer understanding of democratic institutions.
During the visit, the students also met Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana. Speaking with them, he touched on the importance of education, democratic values, and the role young people play in nation-building. He encouraged the students to dream big and to keep working steadily toward achieving those dreams.
Sandeep Singh, the state’s Minister of State for Basic Education (Independent Charge) and MLA from Atrauli, was also present during the visit. He cheered the students on and shared some memorable moments with them, urging them to study with full dedication and set new benchmarks for themselves in life. He also posed for photographs with the students to mark the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Sandeep Singh said the state government, under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, remains fully committed to providing girls from rural backgrounds quality education, safety, and a better learning environment through Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas. He said daughters represent the country’s bright future, and that educational visits of this kind help girl students develop a practical understanding of good governance, constitutional values, and the democratic system.
